Abstract

1455019 Portable food warmer READI TEMP Inc 8 Nov 1973 [30 April 1973] 51905/73 Heading A4D [Also in Division F4] A heat-transfer unit includes a container 23 to be heated or cooled by the unit and comprises a receptacle 10 having a deformable wall 11, a charge of chemicals 29 within the receptacle, and an ampoule 31 containing a medium (e.g. water) able to react with the chemicals 29 to produce temperature change, the ampoule and container 23 being positioned within the receptacle such that pressure on the deformable wall breaks the ampoule allowing the medium and chemical to mix. The ampoule may be shaped to enclose part of the container 23 and the receptacle may have a neck 19 in the opening of which is sealed the container 23. A ring pull device (26) in the lid (25) of the container allows it to be opened. As in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), the container may be of stepped form (45, 46, 47) and the ampoule is correspondingly shaped to interfit with the container.
