1454745 Lined cartons BOXFOLDIA Ltd 31 Oct 1973 [26 Aug 1972 31 Oct 1972 31 Jan 1973] 39898/72 50044/72 and 4761/73 Heading B8P A cardboard carton having a plastics liner 50 has flaps 16, 17 at its base connected to adjacent flaps, these base flaps being folded inwardly when the carton walls are folded flat in face-toface relationship and moving to their base forming position automatically as the walls are moved apart to erect the carton. The carton may have four walls as shown or six or eight or could be of triangular cross-section. The liner may be in the form of a bag sealed at its lower end or may be a sleeve which is folded in between the base flaps as the carton is erected to close its lower end. The liner is stuck to some part of the carton walls or lid, alternatively it may be secured to the whole of the carton walls. A lid may be provided and may be folded from the blank shown in Fig. 1, or the lid may be separate and either hinged on to the carton or be entirely separate. A tongue 45 on the lid engages a slot 47 in the carton wall to lock the lid, the tongue being torn when the lid is initially opened. A further tongue 39 engages the lid to assist in reclosing the carton. The liner 50 is sealed by the closing of the lid which traps the upstanding part of the liner between the lid and the carton walls or the liner can be closed by a clip.
