Abstract
1454356 Circuit breakers CUTLER-HAMMER EUROPA Ltd 6 Feb 1974 [6 Feb 1973] 05440/74 Heading H1N In a circuit breaker having an insulating housing 2, 4, a stationary contact 8, a movable contact 10 and an operating mechanism, the moving contact is mounted on a rocking shaft 22 journalled in bearings in two brackets 24 within the housing, each bearing having two parts to facilitate assembly, one part 100 being provided by the bracket, the other being provided by a removable retainer 98. Retainers 98 have lugs 101, 102, 103 that hold it engaged by friction with lug 104 of bracket 24 during assembly. A shoulder of the housing (106 Fig. 11, not shown) holds the retainer in place after bracket 24 is secured to housing 2. As described the circuit breaker is multipole with dual thermal and magnetic current sensing means 16 for each pole. Upon overload in one circuit, tripbar 18 extending across all poles is moved releasing all three latching systems. The movable contacts are carried by arms 12 of assemblies having frames 20 secured to common rocking shaft 22. The toggle system is arranged such that whenever the contacts are closed (e.g. welded together) the operating lever is biased to the "on" position (Fig. 5, not shown). Each latch system has a primary latch 48, which restrains lever 27 to fix in position upper pivot pin 32 of the toggle linkage and is retained itself by secondary latch 58 engaged on overcurrent by member 16.
