Abstract

1454024 Mixing apparatus JEDNOTNE ZEMEDELSKE DRUZSTVO PODREVNICKO SE SIDLEM V ZELECHOVICICH N DR 1 Feb 1974 04815/74 Heading B1C [Also in Divisions A2 and B8] Apparatus for treating grain with propionic acid comprises a hopper 1 and a cylindrical vessel 2 having a distributor cone 5, and a conical valve member 8 cooperating with a seat 6 and suspended from one end of a beam 9 fulcrumed at 10. The other end of the beam 9 is connected to a solenoid 14. A spray nozzle 18 sprays the curtain of grain falling through the valve. The vessel 2 is supported on springs 15 whereby the presence of a predetermined weight of grain in the vessel actuates a switch which causes the solenoid 14 to open the valve 8, and also starts a pump for the propionic acid and a screw conveyor 17. The solenoid 14 is actuated to close the valve by failure of the grain supply causing actuation of a float switch. The valve opening is adjustable by a lever 13 in conjunction with a guide and seal.
