Abstract
1453233 Twisting reinforcement bars BRITISH STEEL CORP 26 March 1975 [3 April 1974] 14740/74 Heading B3E A method of cold working a steel reinforcement bar comprises cold twisting a ribbed steel reinforcement bar about its axis through a plurality of turns in one direction and subsequently cold twisting the bar about its axis through a plurality of turns in the opposite direction. The bar may have a round or polygonal cross-section and ribs which are oblique to the bar axis in the as-rolled condition. The bar may be returned to substantially its original configuration after cold working. The greatest extent to which the bar is twisted corresponds to a pitch of twist to nominal bar diameter ratio of from 7À5 to 27À2. Cold twisting can be performed at 300 to 375 r.p.m. The steel contains up to 0À25% C. and 0À5 to 0À9% Mn.
