1453094 Method of forming a synthetic polymer web VYSOKA SKOLA STROJNI A TEXTILNI 29 Dec 1973 60160/73 Headings DIN and D1R A method of producing a base web for nonwovens &c wherein synthetic polymer monofilaments or yarns are fed from a creel or warp beam through a system of jets 2 and cast on a take off condenser 3 the speed of passage through the jets being 1.5 times the speed of the condenser, the material being cast such that mutually overlapping loops are formed on the condenser. The jets may be inclined at up to 45‹. A drum press 4 compacts the web which may include fibres having a relatively low softening point, the jets employing preheated air to render the fibres self adhesive. Stitch-knitting or needling machines or adhesives may also be employed to consolidate the web.
