Abstract

1452463 Burner controls ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 21 March 1975 [5 April 1974] 11846/75 Heading F4T [Also in Division F2] A control device for a gas fired appliance comprises a thermo element 21 adapted to be heated by a burner, an electromagnet 18 which has a winding 19 electrically connected to the thermoelement and which has an armature plate 17 connected to the closure member 16 of a gas valve 14 so that the valve is opened against a spring when the plate is attracted by the electromagnet to permit gas to flow, and an electrical indicator 32 connected to element 21 so that the electromagnetic winding 19 and the instrument both respond to heating of the thermoelement. In operation, a button 22 is depressed to close valve 15 and armature plate 17 is attracted to electromagnet 18, valve 14 is opened and gas is supplied to the pilot burner through outlet 13. The burner is ignited by depressing button 31 to actuate a piezo-electric igniter 30, thermo-element 21 produces an emf to energise magnet winding 19 to thus hold valve 14 open, and current also flows through indicator 32, which denotes the presence of the pilot flame and also the intensity of the current supplied. When button 22 is released, valve 15 is opened and gas is supplied to the main burner through outlet 12. The gas supply to the pilot and main burners can be cut-off by depressing a second button 25 which actuates a lever 27 acting on closure member 16 or on armature plate 17. An adjustable thermostat 28 is provided.
