Compasses and dividers.-Relates to improvements in compasses and the like, and comprises carriers for the points, with means for locking them in position. The legs are formed of U or channel section, and a similarly formed arm e of shorter length is assembled on the same pivot c and carries a block f screw-threaded to engage screw g, which has a collar engaging the leg a and milled head g<1> for adjustment. The friction between the arm e and the co-operating leg a is greater than with the other. The point carrier is formed of a plate bent round the pointed pin, and has extending ears h<2> tending to spring apart to loosen the pin, but held together between similar ears on the leg by the clamping-bolt. This, when screwed up, also holds fixed the angle at which the carrier is set.
