Abstract

1450909 Electric meters ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 11 Dec 1973 [18 Dec 1972] 57243/73 Heading H2A The armature shaft of an electric motor is guided by a ball bearing whose inner race is secured thereto and whose outer race is axially supported by means of a component in the housing which is held in place by means securing a bearing plate to the housing. A windscreen-wiper motor has a shaft 16 carrying a worm gear 14 for co-operation with the wiper apparatus (not shown). The shaft passes through an aperture in a bearing plate/end cover 19 and has fixed to it a ball bearing 18 secured by a spacing sleeve 26 and retaining rings 25 fitting annular recesses 24 in the shaft 16. The outer race 29 abuts a shoulder 34 and also bears against a support 27 which is generally annular with two extensions 30. Each extension 30 bears against one edge of a nut 21 which is inserted through an opening 33 in the pot-shaped motor housing 12 against which the other edge of the nut 21 bears at shoulder 22. The extension 30 and nut 21 are recessed at 33 (Fig. 2, not shown) to take a finger portion 32 of the cover 19 which prevents rotation of the support 27 and also limits the insertion of nut 21. The cover-plate 19 (and hence bearing 18) are secured by bolts 20 and the nuts 21 to the housing 12 which thus carries the main thrust A on the motor shaft.
