Abstract

1449171 Stands J B HICKMAN 11 March 1974 [20 March 1973] 13258/73 Heading A4H A support for holding a vehicle door &c. comprises a post 1 having at its upper end a pivotal mounting 3 that can be locked in the desired angular position relative to the post, an elongate clamp rail 11 carrying longitudinally adjustable clamping members 13 for clamping the door &c., and the rail having a block 10 for detachably supporting it on the mounting 3. The pivotal mounting comprises a plate 3 with an open-ended slot 8 for receiving a bolt 9 on block 10, and perpendular lugs 4 pivoted to post 1 by a horizontal pin (5) one lug having a hole that can register with one of a series of angularly spaced holes (6) in the post to receive a pin 20 to lock the mounting in the desired position, and one lug engaging a stop (7) on the post in both extreme positions. Each clamping member 13 comprises a joggled plate 14 having two screw clamps, one screw clamp 15, 16 extending through a longitudinal slot 12 or rail 11 for rotational adjustment or movement along the rail, and the other screw clamp 17, 18 clamping the door, &c. Flat clamps 19 may also be provided. The post 1 may be mounted on a vertically adjustable support, or the pivotal mounting may be provided on a collar slidable on the post.
