Abstract

733,010. Aerials. WOLSEY TELEVISION, Ltd. Nov. 10, 1953 [Feb. 23, 1953], No. 5029/53. Class 40 (7). The invention relates to the mounting of " H " and other aerials with a horizontal crossbar so that the axis of maximum sensitivity can be accurately aligned with the transmitter. It is usual to mount the crossbar on the upper end of a stand-off arm 6 secured to and rotatably adjustable in a lashing bracket 7 secured to a chimney stack or other structure 8. According to the invention the bracket 5 securing the cross bar to the upper end of the stand-off arm provides for angular adjustment of arm and also has means for locking it when the desired position is reached. In a preferred embodiment the bracket 5 consists of two identical T- shaped sections having transverse channel parts 9 and a semi-cylindrical portion 10 in which is formed a slot 14 extending over about 70 degrees of arc and strengthened by a web 15. The two sections are assembled on each side of a square cross-bar and bolted thereto by bolts 11 passing through holes 12. The cylindrical bracket so formed is mounted on the top of the stand-off arm and the aerial system adjusted directionally after which butterfly-headed set screws 13 or other clamping means are passed through one or both slots to engage the circular stand-off arm end.
