1449152 Oil scraper rings H P CORNELIUS 15 July 1974 [13 July 1973] 33442/73 Heading F2B In an oil scraper ring, e.g. for use in a pistonrod stuffing box of a large diesel engine, stop pins 16 are provided to ensure that the gaps between the ends of adjacent segments of scraper laminae 12, 14 are staggered axially. The fact that the gaps are covered, enables wider gaps than usual to be employed to accommodate the radial contraction due to the wearing down of correspondingly broader laminae 12, 14. The laminae 12, 14 and the ring segments 4 may be staggered relatively to one another. Alternatively, the parts 12, 14 and 4 may all be coterminous and an additional groove 22 may carry gap spanning lamina segments 24, located between stop pins 26.
