Abstract
1448480 Impelling tools OLIN SKI AG 21 Dec 1973 [28 Dec 1972] 59409/73 Heading B4C [Also in Division F3] A striker mechanism comprises a striker 12, Fig. 1, which is slidably mounted in a bore 8 of a member 4 and has a pin 11 extending from one end thereof, said pin being slidable in a bore 7 of the member 4. The bores 7 and 8 are connected by a tapered bore 9 and passages 14 are provided between the striker 12 and the member 4. The passages 14 may be formed in the striker or in the bore 8 of the member 4. A chamber 5 is formed between an end of the member 4, which is received in a barrel 1 of a gun, and a partition formed in said barrel 1. The chamber 5 receives a caseless propelling charge (not shown) therein which, when hit by the pin 11 of the striker 12, forces pressurized-gas through an orifice 6 to move a piston 3 in the bore 2 of the barrel 1 and thus fire a wall plug for example therefrom. Pressurized-gas also urges against the pin 11 to return the striker 12 and then passes through the passages 14 in order to effect damping of the striker by pressing at the end thereof which is remote from the pin 11. The latter, which may be made from spring steel, may be mounted in the striker 12 as shown in Fig. 2.
