Abstract

1448395 Valves OCEANETICS Inc 11 March 1974 [12 March 1973] 10782/74 Heading F2V A valve in or for a gas or liquid sampling system, comprises a number of inlets 12.1 and a single outlet 16.1. A manually or automatically operable rotary selector 14.1 can be positioned to communicate any one of the inlets with the outlet via a passage 14.2, the remaining inlets all communicating with a common chamber 30. Moreover, each inlet contains a respective flow controller, e.g. an adjustable screw valve 12.2. In use, the inlets are each connected with a respective compartment or area containing fluid to be analysed, e.g. compartments or areas of a submarine, building or chemical process, and the outlet is connected to an analysis instrument. The screw valves 12.2 are adjusted to provide equal supplies of fluid from the compartments in spite of their different distances from the inlets. A vacuum pump connected at tapping 31 draws the respective fluid from the compartments into the chamber so that the fluid is always present at each inlet ready for immediate flow to the analysis instrument when connected thereto by the selector. O-rings 20 and a plastics seal 14.3 are provided.
