Abstract

1447055 Beams; suspended ceiling forming members METAL SECTIONS Ltd 10 Sept 1974 [30 June 1973] 31311/73 Heading E1W A beam for use in a suspended ceiling comprises a web 10, an upper hollow bead 12 and a lower flange 11. The upper surface of the bead is formed at one or more positions along the length of the beam with a cut or aperture centrally disposed in the width of the bead and the lower surface of the bead or the upper part of the web adjacent the underside of the bead is also cut or apertured so as to leave intact the two opposed lateral portions of the hollow bead which may separate and deform symetrically outwardly when the beam is subject to longitudinal compression. Slits or apertures 21 may be formed in the lowermost portion of the web. The beam may be of steel and formed by interlocking composite parts 11, 13.
