Abstract

1446485 Space heater GACHOT SA 17 Dec 1973 [1 Feb 1973] 58427/73 Heading H5H A space heater comprises a corrugated metal plate 7 acting as a convector and radiator element having heating conductors 8 secured in alternate corrugations by a heat conducting solid embedding material 10 which adheres to plate 7 in the vicinity of the conductors 8. The insulated conductors 8 are embedded in a heat hardenable epoxy resin loaded with at least 60% of a heat conducting powder, e.g. graphite, copper, or aluminium. The heat conducting embedding material 10 ensures that the flanks 11 and bases of the corrugations are at the same operating temperature. The corrugated plate 7 is mounted in a rectangular frame formed by four U section channels 1, 2, 3 and (4). The lateral channels 2, 3, engage over bent over flanges 21 of the plate 7 and the end channels 1, (4) by snap fitting ribs 22. The top and bottom channels 1, (4) are perforated at 5 for convection. A thermostat 14 controls the heating conductors which are joined at their ends.
