Abstract

1446467 Spray carburetters YAMAHA HATSUDOKI KK 19 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 53627/73 Heading F1B Liquid fuel from an idling port 31 opening to the substantially horizontal induction passage adjacent the upper edge of the minimally open butterfly throttle valve 7 is prevented from flowing along the upper part of the induction passage wall to the downstream end of the passage and directed downwardly to the junctions between the valve shaft 33 and the passage wall. From the junctions the fuel is directed on to the lower part of the valve 7 to flow downwardly and be entrained by air-flowing through the clearance 42 between the lower part of the valve and the passage wall. In the embodiment shown a groove 36 collects the liquid fuel which flows down the groove to be deflected by the surfaces 40 formed on the valve shaft 33 on either side of a flat 39B. The upper portion of the groove (36A), Fig. 5 (not shown), may have an upstream side wall extending in a curve from the induction passage wall to the base (136B) of the groove. The groove may lead to bores (64), Fig. 6 (not shown), extending through the valve shaft 33. A partcylindrical member (36B, 36C), Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), may be inserted in the upper part of the induction passage 3 downstream of the port 31 and define a fuel guiding plain or concave surface (136D, 136E) leading to the shaft deflecting surfaces 40. The deflecting surfaces associated with the throttle valve (7A), Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), may be defined in part by shaft surfaces (54) and in part by crescent shaped plate members (55) on the downstream face of the valve. A groove (58), Figs. 11 to 14 (not shown), in the induction passage wall and the concave upstream end (60) of a part-cylindrical insert (136G) in the passage may define a fuel passage having an upstream opening (36E) of decreasing width over the portion of the fuel passage extending from the uppermost part of the passage, the passage being closed at the lower end portions extending to deflecting surfaces (62) on the valve shaft (61).
