Abstract
1445166 Steam irons GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 9 Nov 1973 [10 Nov 1972] 52161/73 Heading D1A In a spray or other steam iron with a flash boiler 24 supplied with a drip feed of water from a tank 20 by a valve 31 or with a flooded boiler and having a dumping valve 44 for emptying the tank onto the upper surface of the soleplate, steam from the boiler 24 passes through a passage 54 through the soleplate coverplate 34 to passages 32 leading to steam ports 12. To prevent condensed water from passing through the passage 54 its inlet is above the floor of the cover plate and preferably an insert 62 is placed in the passage 54 with an orifice edge 56 for controlling the steam flow and a filter screen 60.
