Abstract
1444106 Sintering composition GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE AG 14 Dec 1973 [16 Dec 1972] 58097/73 Heading C7D Sealing strips in rotary piston engines are sintered from a powder mixture of Fe and VC containing substances which are liquid at the sintering temperature. The substances may be Fe-B, Ni-Mn- B, V-Al, Cu-Mn, and/or Cu 3 P. The VC may take the form of a solid carbide solution of VC in WC, MoC, Cr 3 C 2 , TiC, ZrC. One or more of Cr, Mo, V, Ti may be present in the powder mixture, either added to the mixture or alloyed with the Fe. VC is present in the range 15-45 wt. per cent of the total, and a preferred composition is 74% Fe, 22% VC, 4% substances giving rise to liquid phases.
