Abstract

Saddles.-Motor-cycle saddle tops 11 are pivoted at the front to the machine frame at 16, and connected thereto at the rear by shackle or toggle members 28, 30, one or more pneumatic supports 12 being arranged between the top and a bracket 14 on the frame and stops 32, 33 provided on the toggle members to limit the upward movement of the top. Resilient members 50, 51 limit the downward movement. The bladders 35 of the supports 12 are integral with a reservoir 46, which is fitted with an inflating-valve 49 and is secured by a casing 24 and band 25 to a plate 19 at the underside of the top. The outer covering 34 of each support, preferably formed of rubber and fabric, is flanged at 40, the supports being secured to the casing 24 by a flanged ring 41 and bolts 44. The ring 41 passes round a neck portion which is stiffened by a metal ring 47 held in place by an inner lining-piece 48. At its lower end the support has a pressed-in part 36 which is engaged by a projecting portion 39 on a member 37 fixed to the bracket 14.
