Abstract

1441765 Retractive switches MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 17 Aug 1973 [18 Aug 1972 11 Sept 1972 (3) 20 Oct 1972] 38997/73 Heading H1N In Fig. 10 a push-button switch, also used in plurality in a keyboard (Fig. 3, not shown) comprises a button 52 mounted in an insulating frame 51 and which acts on an elastic conductive sheet 53 formed with a part-spherical dimple and having an annular shoulder so that, on depression of the button, the dimple is deformed in two snap-action stages, the first stage being to bring the shoulder into engagement with two fixed contacts 54, 54<SP>1</SP> and the second to indent the dimple to provide overtravel (Figs. 4a to 4d, not shown). The fixed contacts 54, 54<SP>1</SP> form part of a printed circuit board 56 which is held in the frame 51 and is provided an air vent hole 55 covered with a dust filter 58. The printed circuit contacts can have various comb-shaped patterns (Figs. 12, 13, 14, not shown) and in other embodiments the dust filter and/or the vent hole are omitted. In a further embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown) one of the fixed contacts (10) is in permanent engagement with the conductive sheet and the shoulder of the dimple engages the other fixed contact (10<SP>1</SP>) on depression of the button (44).
