1440579 Reciprocating pumps and motors NEWAGE ENGS Ltd 15 Aug 1973 [16 Aug 1972] 38264/72 Heading F1A In a pump or motor, e.g. a vehicle wheel motor, comprising a cylinder block 11 and a cam track 18, one rotatable relatively to the other, the generally radially disposed pistons 50 engage the cam track via cylindrical or barrel-shaped rollers 55 retained in the pistons by bearing shells 52 and piston skirts 60 extending more than 180 degrees around the roller periphery. Guide rings 65, 66, 67 locate the rollers axially, outer rings 65, 67 being retained by circlips 68 and ring 66 being located between two banks of rollers. The guide rings are free to rotate around the cylinder block. In the wheel motor shown, block 11 is stationary and a pintle valve 25 with porting corresponding to the cam track lobes states with the cam track 18 and wheel hub assembly 15 via drive key 27. The piston roller is lubricated with working liquid via passages 57, 58. The outward movement of the pistons is limited by a detent, and the pistons are biased inwardly by fluid-pressure in the motor housing.
