Abstract

1440541 Electrophonic musical instruments HAMMOND CORP 16 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 01973/74 Heading G5J The invention relates to arpeggio devices as in Specification 1,074,177 in which any note played on an accompaniment keyboard enables all octavely related keys on a special keyboard which is stroked to produce an arpeggio or run. The invention modifies the operation thus: (a) if no keys are actuated in the accompaniment keyboard all arpeggio keys are enabled to produce a chromatic run; (b) if one or more keys are actuated all either in the C or C # whole tone scale, the arpeggio keys corresponding to the other scale are disabled; (c) if one or more keys in each whole tone scale is actuated only the corresponding keys of the arpeggio keyboard are enabled. In the circuit, Fig. 2, the buses for supplying keying potential to octavely related keys of the arpeggio keyboard for the C whole tone scale are shown at 60-70 and for the C# whole tone scale at 61-71. When the accompaniment keyboard is not actuated, it applies keying potential to none of the buses, allowing both transistors 142 and 144 to conduct. The negative emitter potential is thus applied through diodes 100- 110 and 128-138 to enable all the keying buses 60-71, while the voltage drop across the diodes ensures that transistors 142, 144 conduct. If keying potential is applied by the accompaniment keyboard to a bus in the C whole tone scale, transistor 142 is cut off removing keying potential from the C# whole tone scale buses 67-71. If keying potential is applied by the accompaniment keyboard to one or more buses in each group these are the only ones to receive it as both transistors 142 and 144 are cut off. Preferably the circuit is on a plug in printed circuit board 80.
