Abstract
1,272,345. Electrophonic musical instruments. HAMMOND CORP. 9 Nov., 1970 [12 Nov., 1969], No. 53103/70. Heading G5J. An electronic musical instrument having an accompaniment keyboard is provided with a preference system for connecting the highest note of a chord to a first lead and the lowest note of the chord to a second lead and means for selectively connecting the chord, the highest note or the lowest note to an output system. The connecting means may be operated manually, or by an automatic rhythm generator. A preferred instrument comprises a melody keyboard 16 for connecting tone generators 10 to an output system 24, 26, and an accompaniment keyboard 14. A chord played on keyboard 14 is passed by lead 28 to a gate 30 and the highest and lowest notes of the chord appear on leads 36 and 38 respectively. The highest and lowest notes are reduced two octaves by dividers 40, 42, 48 and 50 and fed through formant circuits 52, 46 to gates 60, 56. The gates are opened in response to a rhythm programmer 64 which also controls the application of percussive rhythm effects 68 to the output. Further gates may be provided to connect the outputs of dividers 40, 42, 48, 50 to the output system.
