Abstract

1343766 Electrophonic musical instruments P KRIWACZEK and B SILVER [trading as KRIWACZEK STRING-ORGAN CO] 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 7300/70 Heading G5J A string organ, Fig. 1, comprises a base 11 having strings 15 passing over bridges 13, 14, electrical pick-ups 20 and drivers 21 mounted beneath the strings such that a vibration signal received by a pick-up from a string depressed on to a fret 19 on the base is fed via an amplifier to the associated driver to maintain the vibration. The strings are secured at one end at 16 and at the other to tuning pegs 17 operated by keys 18. A damping pad 22 prevents the strings from vibrating unless they are held on the fret. A volume/off-on control 24 is provided and the electronics and power supplies, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), are mounted within the base. Part of the pick-up signal is fed to a mixer unit and thence to a jack plug socket 30 for connection to external amplifiers &c. The strings are of high tensile steel and may lie between 30 and 34 I.S.W.G.
