Abstract
144,003. Stibbe, G. March 22, 1919. Circular machines.-Relates to means for producing the fabrics described in Specification 130,753, and comprises a circular machine furnished with two sets of needles, e.g. cylinder needles 1 and dial needles 2, and equipped with one or more feeders A supplying yarn 3 to the dial needles only, and feeders B supplying yarn 4 to the cylinder needles only, the feeders B also supplying a binding-yarn 6. The needles 2 are advanced to clear at 7 and are retracted at 8 at the feeders A, and at the feeders B they are advanced at 10 without clearing to engage the yarn 6 and are again retracted at 11. The cylinder needles are operated as shown. A restraining-yarn 13 is supplied by a feeder 14 between both sets of needles. The yarns 6, 13 may be supplied at each feeder B or less frequently. To permit of changing to rib fabric, adjustable up-throw and out-throw cams are provided at the feeders A and B respectively for the needles 1, 2, and suitable yarn feeding and severing devices are provided in connexion with the yarns 6, 13, such cams and devices being controlled automatically b pattern mechanism. A selvedge may be formed by providing a movable clearing-cam for the needles 1 between the feeders A, B.
