Abstract

1439975 Stackable containers TECHNIFIL 8 Oct 1973 [6 Oct 1972 25 July 1973] 46868/73 Heading B8P A collapsible container which may be stacked in the erected and collapsed conditions comprises side walls 7, 8 hinged to a base 1, the base being provided with feet 10 and first support means 12 and the side walls having second support means 12, so that the feet 10 of an upper container may engage the first support means 12 of a lower collapsed container on the second support means 12 of a lower erected container. As shown, the base has two feet 10 each formed by a horizontal wire which is bent at each end 1b and attached to the base. The support means 12 each comprise a U-shaped wire which projects outwardly from the associated side wall or base. Further U-shaped wires 13 serve to prevent lateral displacement of stacked containers. In other embodiments (not shown) the base 1 has four separate feet, each of which is integral with the first support means 12. In Fig. 5 (not shown) each foot is defined by an elongated wire loop, the upper end of which is bent outwards and co-operates with a U-shaped horizontal wire to define a first support means 12. The second support means 12 have a similar form. In Fig. 8 (not shown) each foot and first support means 12 comprises a vertical channel-shaped member from the lower end of which projects a U-shaped wire. When two collapsed containers are superimposed these U-shaped wires are located within the channel-shaped members of the lower container.
