Abstract

1439687 Bag filling machine; separating sheets EL CU SpA 11 Dec 1973 [18 July 1973] 57254/73 Headings B8C and B8R An apparatus for extracting and transferring a bag from a pile of bags 10 comprises first rotatable arms 28 for picking up the uppermost bag and moving it into a vertical plane, second rotatable arms 36, (38), Fig. 2 (not shown), for gripping the bag adjacent its open end 26 and moving the bag walls apart at this end 26 as the bag is carried, within the vertical plane, into engagement with the mouth 16 of a hopper 14, and clamps (48, 50), Fig. 3 (not shown), for holding the bag on the hopper mouth 16. Suckers 30, 40 on the first and second arms grip the bag. The first and second arms and the clamps (48, 50) are moved by pneumatic piston and cylinder units such as 42. The movements of the arms and clamps and the application of vacuum 3 to the suckers 30, 40 are controlled automatically by a system incorporating microswitches.
