Abstract

1439343 Toy constructional elements J BAKKER 3 Oct 1973 [30 March 1973] 46138/ 73 Heading A6S A toy constructional element comprises at least two spaced cup-like parts each of which comprises a lower portion extending from the bottom and having a relatively small height, and an upper portion having a height which is several times larger than the height of the lower portion, a step being provided between the upper and lower portion, and the lower portion being shaped in such a way that its outer shape and dimensions are substantially identical to the inner shape and dimensions of the upper end of the upper portion, and the cup-like parts of the toy element being interconnected by at least one connecting part. As shown, a toy constructional element 1 made from p.v.c. comprises two cup-like portions 2, 3; 4, 5, each having a lower part 3, 5 to nest in a larger size upper part 2, 4 of another like element. Connecting walls 7, 8 closed by a bottom panel 9 join the two cuplike portions. As shown, the cup-like portions 2, 4, &c are of octagonal shape, and pairs of ribs 10 extend down inside alternate panels of the upper cup-like parts 2, 4 to ensure a tight friction grip of an inserted lower part. A step 6 separates the upper and lower parts 2, 3 and 4, 5. The cup-like portions 2, &c may be of other polygonal crosssection, or be circular, Fig. 4 (not shown). Three cup-like portions may be connected in line, Fig. 3 (not shown). The width of the connecting walls 7, 8 is the same as the width of the walls of upper parts 2, 4, so that the upper part 2 or 4 of a like toy element may nest in the space adjacent the connecting wall 7 or 8. The internal shape of the lower ends of the upper portions 2. 4 need not be the same as that of their upper ends, so long as the latter will accept the lower portions 4. 5 of another like element.
