Abstract

1439139 Coated needle felt JENS VILLADSEN'S FABRIKER AS 31 Oct 1973 [1 Nov 1972] 50342/72 Heading B2E A needle felt is top-coated with a layer of a polymer-containing reclaimed rubber particles, the polymer being neoprene or a styrene/butadiene copolymer. The felt is preferably made from a synthetic fibres or mixtures thereof with natural fibres such as polypropylene and nylon fibres, optionally supported by a supporting web. Before or after application of the top coat, a coat of styrene/butadiene copolymer, gelatinised p.v.c., or a preformed rubber or plastics foam may be applied to the under side of the felt. The binder is preferably applied as an emulsion by rollers, spraying or scraping, or a melt of the binder may be applied. The top surface of the felt may be precoated with plasticised p.v.c. or viscous styrene/butadiene copolymer, or the felt may be impregnated with a binder. The top coat may be overcoated with a cured neoprene latex layer. The coated felt may be used as an indoor or outdoor sports surface and the felt may be coated after being bonded to a surface.
