Abstract

1438025 Thermally insulated containers THERMOS Ltd 2 Oct 1974 [3 Oct 1973] 46206/73 Heading F4U A double-walled vacuum insulated vessel 1 is enclosed within a plastics sheath 2 which substantially totally encloses the vessel and which substantially follows the internal and external contours of the vessel. The sheath may be formed of plastics material, e.g. polypropylene or polystyrene, or of a thermosetting plastics material or of a metal, e.g. aluminium or stainless steel. The vessel may have a wide or narrow opening at the neck which is closable by a screw-threaded stopper engaging screw threads formed on the inner or outer surface of the sheath. The sheath is formed in two sections (3, 4) which are detachably or non-detachably secured together and may have an integral or detachable pouring lip. The sheath may be formed, on the exterior and/or interior of the vessel with corrugations or ribs. A portion of the sheath is preferably formed with corrugations 12 to afford a degree of resilience. A resilient support 10 may be provided around the exhausting seal 9 either within or outside the space enclosed by the sheath.
