Abstract

1437718 Captive bolts IMHOF-BEDCO Ltd 20 May 1974 [21 May 1973] 24073/73 Heading F2H A bolt 1, held captive in one of two members A, B to be secured together, and arranged to coact with a screw thread in, on, or forming part of the other of the two members, has a head 2, 5, a threaded portion 4, and a plain shank portion 3 of smaller diameter than the head and the threaded portion, the plain shank portion 3 being a clearance fit in a hole 7 in the one member A and receiving a flexible longitudinally split bearing bush 8 which fits into the hole 7 to retain the bolt in the member A. The bush 8 has an end flange 10, and is of plastics. The bolt head 2 is knurled and has a projection 5 with a screwdriver slot 6. A nut 13 is located in a slot 14 in the member B.
