Abstract

Tanks.-Tanks and cardboard containers, floors, &c. are rendered acid and oilproof by coating them with a layer of fire-proof cement, such as Keene's cement or other hard finish plaster, allowing the coating to dry and set, washing the surface of the coating with refined petroleum, and covering it with a solution of shellac in rectified or methylated spirit, with or without colouring-matter. The cement, reinforced or otherwise, may itself form the wall of the tank &c.
