Abstract

1434902 Swimming pools N F DEWEY 23 July 1973 [22 April 1972] 49131/71 Heading A4N A bath comprises a lower portion 10, Fig. 1, providing the bottom and lower side walls and having an outwardly turned flange 20 around its upper edge, and an upper portion 12 having an outwardly turned flange 32 around its lower edge by which it is secured to the flange 20, each portion 10, 12 being constructed from a plurality of panels 16, 18, 22, 24, 26, 28 joined together through the outwardly directed peripheral flanges 20, 32 at least some of the lower panels 16, 18 each forming part of the bottom, part of the lower side walls and part of the flange 20. The panels are constructed from moulded glass-fibre reinforced plastics. An intermediate panel 18 has a sloping surface which joins floors at different levels. The upper panels 22, 24 26, 28 have stepped portions 30 or, alternatively, one panel 34 is shaped to provide steps 36. A neoprene gasket (38), Fig. 4 (not shown) is compressed by bolts (40) between the flanges 20, 32 which are sealed further by a sealant (42) and PVC tape (44). A mould for the lower panels 16, has a central portion 60, Fig. 5 , side portions 62 and a low wall 64 which provides the flange 20. A movable wall 66 can be set in one of a plurality of positions to provide panels of varying lengths. The bath is set in concrete below ground level with the upper flange 32 of the upper panels below paving slabs. An alternative finish at the top consists of a panel (56), Fig. 3 (not shown) shaped to form a rounded overhang 60.
