Abstract

1434846 Footwear ETABS OLIVIER GUILLE & FILS SA 7 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972 29 June 1973] 42288/73 Heading A3B Footwear consists of an article of clothing such as a sock 1, a pair of tights, combinations or like garment having at least one foot 2 of knitted textile material and a sole 3 of flexible material having a fibrous structure which is attached to the foot 2 by means of a moulded side portion 5 of flexible plastics material which adheres to textiles and which covers at least part of the periphery of the foot 2 and sole 3. The sole 3 may be made of velvet-pile fabric, felt or carpet type fabric. The side portion 5 may be moulded from polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride or rubber and may include extensions 6a, (Fig. 4) which cover the toe and heel of the foot 2. The footwear is made by placing the sock 1 on a last, placing the sole 3 in a mould, pressing the last and sock against the sole 3 in the mould and injecting plastics material into the surrounding cavity to form the side portion 5. The footwear may also be provided with an intermediate sole 25 between the foot 21 of the sock and the sole 22 (Fig. 9). The intermediate sole 25 may be of uniform thickness, or may be formed with a thicker heel portion 25a as shown in Fig. 9. Alternatively the intermediate sole 25 may have a flat upper surface the heel portion projecting downwardly.
