Abstract
1433925 Ventilators DANFOSS A/S 7 May 1973 [5 May 1972] 21583/73 Heading F4V An air supply and distributing device for maintaining a constant temperature and air flow pattern in the lining space of a room comprises a horizontal supply duct 2 having an outlet opening 8 in a wall of the room, means for supplying air to opening 8 at a variable temperature or volume flow rate, a baffle 10 adjustable by a device 11 to vary the effective flow area of the opening 8, the air supply means and the device 11 being simultaneously operable in response to a temperature responsive device 4 in the room, and the arrangement being such that the effective flow area is reduced, in use, in dependence upon reduction of the temperature or volume flow rate of the air supplied to opening 8. In the form shown, the device 4 is a pneumatic thermostat controlling both an air mixing unit supplied with relatively hot and cold air and a piston and cylinder 12, 15 which actuate the device 11 against the bias of a spring 13, which may be of a type having a non-linear characteristic curve. The opening 8 and baffle 10 may be rectangular, as shown, or the opening may be circular in which case the radius thereof is adjustable to alter the effective flow area. The devices 4 and 12, 13 may be replaced by a thermostat having an electrical output and an electrically or magnetically driven actuator. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), a throttle element (16) in the duct 2 is controlled through a capillary tube (17) by a temperature sensor (18) in the room and having a liquidvapour filling. The capillary tube (17) has a branch (19) which communicates with a cylinder space (20) above the piston 12 of device 11. A spring (21) biases the device 11 upwardly.
