Abstract
1433805 Electrode composition TDK ELECTRONICS CO Ltd 24 April 1973 [29 April 1972 1 Sept 1972 25 Sept 1972 2 Oct 1972] 19452/73 Heading C1J [Also in Division C7] In a method of electrolysis are used sintered electrodes having a spinel structure and the formula M x Fe 3-x O 4 (wherein M represents at least one of Mn, Ni, Co, Mg, Cu, Zn and Cd and x is from 0À05 to 0À5). The electrodes may be prepared by ball milling the appropriate metal oxides, heating for 1-3 hours in air at 800‹ to 1000‹ C., cooling, pulverizing (e.g. by atomizing), shaping, heating at 1100‹ to 1450‹ C. in N 2 or CO 2 containing at the most 5% by vol. of O 2 for 1-5 hours and then slowly cooling in N 2 or CO 2 containing at the most a small amount of O 2 . The examples describe the preparation of Mn; Ni; Co; Mg; Cu; Zn; CuZn; NiCo; NiZn; NiCoNz; and Cd ferrites.
