Abstract

1433722 Cartons MACMILLAN BLOEDEL CONTAINERS Ltd 6 March 1974 10061/74 Heading B8P A cardboard carton having its sides folded up from a central base portion has gasket folds at the corners between adjacent sides, the corner portions providing four isosceles triangles one half diagonal or each corner portion being a cut as shown in Fig. 14. This enables the gussets to be so folded that the sides remain erect, two different ways of folding the gussets are shown in Fig. 7, at the right hand side the gusset is wedged against the base and side wall. At the left-hand side of Fig. 7 the gusset is folded upon itself to retain the sides erect. In Fig. 12 (not shown) a tongue and slot additionally retains the folded gussets. Reinforcing portions S1, R1 and R2, Fig. 7, may be provided transversely or longitudinally of the carton. The carton may have a lid. One corner triangle can be secured to an adjacent side so that the sides are more readily erected.
