Abstract

1433427 Laminated fabrics D MORGENSTERN 4 Sept 1974 [5 Sept 1973] 41865/73 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions B1-B2 and D1] A non-woven fabric, which may be used as an ironon interlining, has a fibrous surface free of adhesive and a smooth surface and is formed from a fleece 1 of loose fibrous material which has an adhesive distributed in the form a a surface layer 3 coextensive with and parallel to the planar surfaces of the web. Some of the fibres extend through the adhesive and some of the fibres 2 are randomly arranged. The fibres extending through the adhesive are coated on their surface 4 with a thermosetting binder, e.g. an acrylic resin and the binder is set to form layer 5. The material is subjected to heat and pressure, e.g. calendering, so as to form a discontinuous layer 5 and thus a smooth surface fabric. Heat sensitive granules may be applied to the smooth surface of the fabric so as to form an iron-on interlining.
