Abstract

1395733 Laminated interlinings for garments KUFNER TEXTILWERKE KG 18 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 47950/72 Addition to 1335430 Heading B5N Stiffening interlinings for garments are produced by cutting or stamping the interlining or a portion thereof from a web of material having different degrees of stiffness in differing areas by virtue of it comprising two or more layers of material adhesively bonded together but only partially overlying each other, at least one of the layers of material having areas of differing characteristics and/or the or at least one of the adhesive layers having areas of differing characteristics whereby the sheet material has areas of differing stiffness. Where the layers are of woven material the varying consistency of one layer may be achieved by varying the density of the weave or quality of the yarn. Differing characteristics of the adhesive, which may be a polyacrylate, polymethacrylate or polyurethane, may be obtained by varying the pattern of the adhesive, the amount of adhesive or the elasticity of the adhesive. Where the layers are of woven material, an edge portion of a layer may be free from weft or warp threads. In Fig. 1, a heat sealable adhesive 2 is applied in the form of spots to the lower side of layer 1 to permit the lining material to be adhered to a garment, and layer 3 is adhered to layer 1 by a close network of spots of adhesive 4 and a more widely spaced pattern of spots 5 of adhesive. The layers may be of woven material, a fleece or foamed material. In an alternative construction the two layers are bonded together by means of a uniformly distributed network of spots but the upper layer, which is of woven material, is divided into two portions, one of which has a looser weave than the other.
