Abstract

1348132 Shirt collars D-H-J CUT LININGS Ltd 17 June 1971 [3 July 1970] 32421/70 Heading A3V A shirt collar has a reinforced interlining comprising a basic interlining 1 which is coated or impregnated on one side with a thermosoftening resin and has reinforcing pieces 3 and 4, respectively shaped to occupy the cape portion and at least part of the neckband portion of the collar, bonded to its other side with thermosoftening resin. The basic interlining and reinforcing pieces may be made from cellulosic material, e.g. 100% cotton woven fabrics, and the reinforcing pieces may also be coated or impregnated with thermosoftening resin on their surfaces remote from the basic interlining. The thermosoftening resin may be applied to both the basic interlining and the reinforcing pieces in the form of a microdot pattern. Fabric forming the outer surfaces of the collar is attached to the reinforced interlining by the application of heat and pressure to soften the resin and securely bond the fabric to the interlining, and there may also be stitching around the edges of the collar securing the fabric to the interlining. Bones 14 and additional reinforcing pieces, e.g. 12, may also be provided in the collar. The reinforcing pieces 3, 4 may be completely separate as shown in Fig. 1, or they may be joined together at their ends 15 as shown in Fig. 4.
