Abstract

475,396. Wearing-apparel. HAASE, F. April 21, 1937, No. 11429. Convention date, Sept. 26, 1936. [Class 141] A garment juncture formed by a mating member on one of the garment parts adapted to engage with a groove provided on the other garment part, is characterized in that the groove is provided with a wire support which is covered with fabric. In the form shown, Fig. 3, a collar 1 is provided with a rib 2 adapted to engage with a groove 4 formed at the upper edge of the shirt, the groove being provided with a wire support 4<1> covered with a layer of fabric 4<111>. The wire support, Fig. 8, comprises curved parts 4<1>1 corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the groove with interconnecting parts 4<1>2' and is provided at least at its ends with reinforcing sleeves 4<11>, Fig. 5. The collar is provided with a covering strip 5 to conceal the means of attachment to the shirt. In a modification, the wire support is rendered less perceptible through the fabric by replacing the single layer of fabric by two obliquely-cut layers. In another modification, the rib on the collar is replaced by a groove. In a further modification, the groove may be provided with interruptions. The invention is also stated to be applicable to the attachment of cuffs to shirt sheeves.
