Abstract

1335430 Laminated interlinings for garments KUFNER TEXTILWERKE KG 27 July 1971 [7 Dec 1970] 35221/71 Heading B5N Stiffening interlinings for garments are produced by cutting or stamping the interlining or portion thereof from a web of material having differing degrees of thickness and stiffness in differing areas by virtue of being composed of a plurality of layers connected to each other but only partially overlying each other, the cutting or stamping being carried out in such a manner that the degree of stiffness of a particular area of the material corresponds to the degree of stiffness required in that portion of the interlining. The layers of material, which may be the same or different, may be woven, non-woven or knitted fabrics or foamed sheet materials. The layers may be adhered together by means of a network of fine spots of adhesive, e.g. of polymethacrylates or polyurethanes. In Fig. 1a heat-sealable adhesive 2 is applied in the form of spots to the lower side of layer 1 to permit the web to be adhesively secured to the top layer fabric of a garment, and layers 3 and 6 are adhered to layer 1 by spots of adhesive 4 and 7. Inner edges 5 and 8 may rest loosely on the lower layer or may be stitched to the lower layer. In an alternative construction the upper layers extend over the central area of the lower layer. The base layer may be a woven material having greater stiffness in the weft than in the warp.
