Abstract

1433251 Rotary positive-displacement machines W VON CASIMIR 14 May 1973 [12 May 1972] 22804/73 Heading F1F In a peristaltic pump revolving rollers 3, 4, 6 compress a pumping tube 2 and backflow from an outlet section 10 of the latter to a section 11 when the leading roller 3 decompresses the adjacent part of the tube is obviated due to prior equalization of pressures in said sections by either the roller 6, Fig. 5 or a cam-driven reciprocating cam 5 that partially compresses the tube, Fig. 2. The stroke of the cam may be adjustable, Fig. 6 (not shown). In another embodiment, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), adjustable rollers (17, 18) are disposed between the rollers 3, 4 so as to partially compress the tube 2 and equalize the pressures in the sections 10, 11. The cam 5 may be incorporated in the latter embodiment.
