Abstract

1,266,492. Rotary flexible tube pumps. L. SUMNER. March 13, 1969 [Dec. 15, 1967], No. 57085/67. Heading F1F. A rotary pump comprises a support member having a substantially cylindrical bore 13 within which is eccentrically mounted a tubular cylindrical member 17 and there between a flexible tube 18 which extends around and is preferably secured to the member 17 and has an inlet (or outlet) 19 and an outlet (or inlet) 20. In one construction, the member 17 fits over a circular element 15 which is eccentrically mounted on a shaft 16. In another construction, shown dotted in the Figure, an arm 21 carries an non-rotatable roller or shoe 22 which contacts the inner circumferance of the member 17. The inlet and outlet which pass through the support member may be located in several positions as shown dotted. The eccentric may have a variable throw or the length of the arm 21 may be adjustable to vary the degree of flattening of the tube. The tube 18 instead of being wholly flexible may be partly rigid over that part adjacent the support member.
