Abstract
1433041 Knitting machines ELITEX ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 19 March 1973 [20 March 1972] 13029/73 Heading D1C In a circular knitting machine having a pattern drum for controlling the knitting of an article driven by a chain 38, the chain is driven through a chain wheel by a pawl mechanism 33 engaging a rack wheel 36 and operated, in correspondence to the number of revolutions of the needle cylinder completed, by a control device including a bluffing lever 43 movable to bluff the pawl when movement of the pattern drum is not required. This reduces the length of the chain as plain links are not required when there is no patterning. Lever 43 is connected to an electromagnet 13 whose curvature has a follower 42 which engages lugs 39 on chain 38, to move the electromagnet 13 and lever 43 to cause bluffing of the pawl 33. This movement operates switch 16 to cause counting of cylinder revolutions and comparison of this number to be made with the number to be completed before further patterning. When the required number is reached, electromagnet 13 retracts armature 41 and follower 42 slides off the lug 20 so that lever 43 is lowered and the pawl re-engages the racking wheel.
