Abstract

The pattern unit for a hand knitting machine, which is manually operated by a slide mechanism, has a pattern wheel fitted with at least three independent and movable pattern studs. The design allows the pattern to be modified by external forces without changing the pattern wheel or providing a range of wheels for specific patterns. Specif., the selection of the pattern wheel position, according to the required location of the pattern studs aligned at right angles to the circumference of the wheel, is operated by electrical or electro-magnet impulses in conjunction with a synchronised selector slide which has a number of apertures to accept the control plugs which are raised or lowered to drop into place. A leaf spring is mounted in a block and roller assembly to hold the control plugs in a radial direction.
