Abstract

1433021 Rotary positive-displacement-fluidmachines HOKUETSU KOGYO CO Ltd 1 May 1973 [1 May 1972 9 Aug 1972 and 17 Aug 1972] 20725/73 Heading F1F In a meshing-screw machine such as a compressor or expander, having male and female rotors 12, 14 each male-rotor tooth, or "thread", 13 has a crest of substantial breadth a and uniform radius R from the rotor axis O, the trailing flank of the thread being generated by the sharp leading edge 16 of the crest of a female-rotor thread 15, and the leading flank of each thread 15 being generated by the trailing edge 17 of the crest of a thread 13. The leading and trailing flanks 20, 21 of the threads 13, 15 are shaped to produce a minimal space 24 between meshing threads. The rootportion 23 of the flank 20 (of each thread 13) is generated by the trailing edge 22 of the crest of a thread 15. Sealing strips may be incorporated in the crests of the teeth 13 either centrally or at the edges 16, 17, Figs. 10 to 12 (not shown).
