Abstract

1503488 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER AB 20 Feb 1975 [6 March 1974] 10070/74 Heading F1F In the profile of each helical groove of a female rotor 30 for a meshing-screw machine a curve 68, 74 and straight line 74, 82 meet on the respective pitch-circle, the angle # of the common tangent at point 74 relative to a radial line through said point being 30 degrees or less. Preferably, the profile also comprises circular arcs 66, 78 and 66, 88 of radius r, another circular arc 78, 82 of radius R, a curve 88, 90 generated by a point 114 on the profile of each helical land of the associated male rotor 28, a straight line 76, 90, which lies on a radius of the pitch-circle, and a curve 70, 76, the radius r being about 40% of the pitch-circle radius and the radius R about four-thirds r. The curve 68, 74 may be generated by a straight line 104, 118 in the male rotor land profile, the curve 70, 76 being generated by a straight line 106, 120 in said profile. The angle α subtended by each of the arcs 66, 78 and 66, 88 at the pitch-point is about 10 degrees. The profile of the male rotor land may include circular arcs 96, 108 and 96, 114 indentical with the arcs 66, 78 and 66, 88 save for undercutting to form a sealing strip at 96, an arc 108, 112 generated by the arc 78, 82 an arc generated by the line 74, 82 and arc 104, 112 generated by the point 90, and an arc 106, 116 generated by the line 76, 90. When the machine is a compressor the flank 62 of the female rotor groove is the leading one.
