Abstract
1483972 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A B 21 March 1975 [21 April 1974 23 April 1974] 12013/75 Heading F1F [Also in Division B3] In a meshing-screw machine the profile of each helical lobe, or "rib", of the male rotor RR is asymmetric and comprises a portion represented by a heavy line intersecting the pitch circle TK at a point P whereat a normal N is at an angle α to a line S, which is at right-angles to a radial line V, the angle α being greater than five degrees. The same condition obtains at any other point on the same flank of the rib. This is said to facilitate formation of the ribs by hobbing. A known profile represented by a thin line passes through a point P . A portion A of the profile is an arc of a circle with its centre at MR. The specification describes a method of making the male rotor in which the circle of contact of a hobbing tool is displaced relative to the pitch circle of the rotor being machined in a manner to provide 'profile shift'.
